Kiwanis Waterloo Region Dragon Boat Festival Crafts Fair

Saturday July 19, 2008

A longer description

The Kiwanis Dragon Boat Festival of Waterloo Region celebrates its 10th year this summer. Its main attraction is the Dragon Boat races, which bring over 2000 athletes to the site. With spectators, volunteers, and the conservation area's regular summertime campers and visitors, attendance is likely to be more than 7,000 people - making this one of Waterloo's biggest summertime events.

In addition to the Dragon Boat races, the Festival has an entertainment stage with music and dance performances throughout the day, all day food and drink services, public beach and park access, overnight camping, clowns, buskers, roving musicians, prizes, trophies, awards, sun, fun, a great sound system, a beer tent, and of course - it's 4th Annual Dragon Boat Arts and Crafts Fair.

The Kiwanis Club of Elmira organises and operates the Festival as a fundraiser to offset costs associated with the provision of its many community projects. All Festival revenues go directly to support individuals and groups whose needs fall within the Kiwanis guidelines for assistance.

The Site

The Arts & Crafts Fair is held outdoors at the Laurel Creek Conservation Area in Waterloo. The "Artisans Alley" vendor site is situated in the main traffic area of the festival and is well marked with banners and posters. Booth sites are available with approximately 10 foot frontages. Price $30. Additional five foot stacking tables for these spaces are available as well. Please advise on your application form if tables are required. The sites are assigned immediately upon receipt of vendor applications. Vendors are welcome to use additional personal display materials. More than 150 m. of vendor frontage has been set aside to accommodate 40+ vendors. Automobile access to the site for loading and unloading materials is possible before 8:00 a.m. and after 5:00 p.m. on Festival Day. Parking is immediately adjacent to the vendor area.

The Costs

The vendors’ fee has been set at this modest rate to attract crafters/vendors to this event, and especially to encourage the involvement of new and local crafters.
